The Company Band was first announced in March 2007, when Jess Margera informed MTV that he had formed an as-yet untitled supergroup with Neil Fallon and James A. Rota. Margera explained that the idea came to him on a flight back from Germany while looking at his iPod's top 10 list, which included Clutch, Puny Human, Fireball Ministry, and Led Zeppelin. He called everyone but Led Zeppelin and invited them to his home studio, where they worked on songs that eventually grew to 12. The band initially included bassist Jason Diamond of Puny Human and quickly recorded its debut EP, Sign Here, Here, and Here, at Grandmaster Recorders in Hollywood with producer Andrew Alekel. The EP was released in early 2008 as a digital download and later on CD and vinyl. On February 9, the band performed live on the 24-hour Jackass takeover special in Times Square, New York City.

In late 2008, Diamond was replaced by Fu Manchu bassist Brad Davis, and the group recorded its debut full-length album, The Company Band, in 2009 in Los Angeles with Alekel producing. The album was released in November 2009 by Restricted Release, preceded by the single 'It's a Confusing World.' After a period of inactivity due to members' other projects, the band returned in July 2012 with its second EP, Pros & Cons, recorded again with Alekel at Grandmaster Recorders (Fallon's vocals were recorded at Magpie Cage Studios in Baltimore). According to guitarist Dave Bone, the EP was influenced by AC/DC, Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden. Since then, there have been very few updates regarding the band's future.
